Configure EP-PatchStudio preferences and application behaviour

Overview

The Settings section allows you to customise EP-PatchStudio to match your workflow. Configure audio devices, MIDI routing, file paths and application preferences.

Audio Settings

Configure audio input and output devices for sample playback and recording:

  • Audio Input Device: Select the audio interface for recording with the Auto-Sampler
  • Audio Output Device: Choose the output device for sample preview and playback
  • Sample Rate: Set the default sample rate for new projects (44.1kHz, 48kHz, 96kHz)
  • Buffer Size: Adjust buffer size to balance latency and stability

MIDI Settings

Configure MIDI devices for auto-sampling and device communication:

  • MIDI Output Device: Select the MIDI output for auto-sampling hardware synths
  • EP Device MIDI Port: Configure the MIDI port for EP device communication
  • MIDI Channel: Set the default MIDI channel for auto-sampling (1-16)

File Paths & Storage

Manage default locations for samples, backups and projects:

  • Sample Library Path: Default location for imported samples and audio files
  • Backup Location: Directory where device backups are stored
  • Export Path: Default location for exported multisamples and projects
  • Temporary Files: Location for temporary audio processing files

Auto-Sampler Defaults

Set default parameters for auto-sampling sessions:

  • Note Range: Default lowest and highest notes to sample
  • Interval: Default number of semitones between sampled notes
  • Sustain Time: How long to hold each note during sampling
  • Pre-Roll Time: Delay before recording starts
  • Post-Hold Time: Duration to record after note off

Sample Editor Preferences

Customise the sample editor behaviour:

  • Auto-Normalise: Automatically normalise samples on import
  • Default Playback Mode: Set the default mode (Single, Loop, Pitched, Multi, Kit)
  • Waveform Display: Choose between waveform, spectrogram, or both
  • Loop Detection: Enable automatic loop point detection on import

Application Preferences

Configure general application behaviour:

  • Theme: Choose between Light, Dark, or System theme
  • Auto-Connect Device: Automatically connect to EP device when detected
  • Check for Updates: Enable automatic update checking on startup
  • Confirm Destructive Actions: Show confirmation dialogs for delete/overwrite operations
  • Show Tooltips: Display helpful tooltips on hover

Advanced Settings

Advanced configuration options for experienced users:

⚠️ Caution

Advanced settings can affect application stability and performance. Only modify these settings if you understand their impact.

  • Maximum Concurrent Transfers: Number of simultaneous file transfers to device
  • MIDI Timeout: Time to wait for MIDI device responses
  • Cache Size: Maximum size for audio preview cache
  • Debug Logging: Enable detailed logging for troubleshooting

Resetting Settings

If you encounter issues or want to start fresh, you can reset settings to their defaults:

  • Reset to Defaults: Click the "Reset All Settings" button at the bottom of the Settings page
  • Preserve User Data: Resetting settings will not delete your samples, backups, or projects
  • Restart Required: You may need to restart EP-PatchStudio after resetting settings
