How to Share EP Sample Packs as ZIP Files
Build a sample pack in EP-PatchStudio, export it as a single ZIP, and it's ready to send to a friend or back up. You can import one just as easily, then push the whole pack to your EP in one go.
Sample Packs is its own tool in EP-PatchStudio now, out of the File Manager and up in the Library group of the sidebar. A pack is a named, reusable bundle of samples that lives on your computer. The part that makes it worth sharing: you can export a whole pack to a single ZIP, and import one back just as easily. It's a Pro feature, and it works with the EP-40, EP-133 and EP-1320.
Build a pack
Start with New Pack and give it a name. The fastest way to fill it is Import from folder: point it at a folder of samples and it pulls them all in at once. Add a description and tags while you're there, so once you've built up a few packs you can filter them by tag instead of scrolling.
Export it as a ZIP
Hit Export as ZIP and the whole pack, every sample plus a small manifest, is saved as one .zip
file. That's the shareable unit. Send it to a friend, drop it in your cloud storage, or keep it as a
tidy off-device backup of a set you're proud of.
Import a ZIP
Import from ZIP goes the other way, and it's not fussy about where the ZIP came from:
- A pack exported from EP-PatchStudio comes back in exactly as it left, with its sample order, names and root notes intact, thanks to that manifest.
- A plain ZIP of loose audio files works too. EP-PatchStudio pulls in every audio file it finds,
sorted sensibly, and quietly ignores the macOS clutter (those
__MACOSXfolders and dotfiles) that usually sneaks into a zip.
Packs accept WAV, AIFF and MP3. FLAC is the one to avoid: it doesn't decode reliably on macOS, so convert those to WAV first.
Push the pack to your EP
Once a pack is how you want it, Push to Device sends the lot to your connected EP. Choose the slot to start from and whether to overwrite what's there, and the whole pack loads in one pass with a progress bar. It's the quickest way to get a big set of sounds onto the device without adding them slot by slot. To get samples sounding their best before they go, run them through audio processing first.
Imports are capped at 500 files or 2 GB at a time, which is more than enough for a normal pack and keeps a giant folder from overwhelming things.
