How to Manage Your EP Device Samples from an iPad or iPhone
EP-PatchStudio isn't just a desktop app. It runs on iPhone and iPad too, so you can manage samples, build multisamples and back up your EP-40, EP-133 or EP-1320 from the sofa, with the device on USB.
You don't need to be sat at a computer to work on your EP. EP-PatchStudio runs on iPhone and iPad (and Android), so you can manage your EP-40, EP-133 or EP-1320 from wherever you happen to be, with the device connected over USB.
It's the same app you'd use on the desktop, near enough. Here's what the mobile version does, and the one thing it doesn't.
What you'll need
- An iPhone or iPad with EP-PatchStudio installed (download it free)
- Your EP-40, EP-133 or EP-1320
- A USB cable to connect the two
What you can do from your phone or tablet
Pretty much everything. On mobile you can:
- Browse and manage samples on the device with the File Manager: upload, download, delete and tidy slots.
- Import audio from your device and trim and edit it in the Sample Editor.
- Build kits and multisamples, then send them straight to your EP over USB.
- Back up your projects so your work is safe before a gig or a firmware update.
If you've used EP-PatchStudio on a computer, it all works the way you'd expect, just on a screen you can hold.
The one thing that's desktop only
The Auto-Sampler is the exception. It needs MIDI and audio routing that only really makes sense on a computer, so it isn't on the mobile app. If your plan is to auto-sample a hardware synth or a VST, that's a desktop job. Everything else travels.
Why it's handy
The obvious one: you can tweak a kit or prep a few samples on the sofa, on the train, or in the studio without lugging a laptop about. Connect the EP, do your thing, and it's all on the device when you're done.
